Passive Restraint Tactics Course Description

Passive Restraint Tactics

Passive Restraint Tactics is an intensive 4 hour class. Using knowledge of anatomy and instinctive gross motor skills, attendees are taught simple, effective techniques for entering confined spaces like:  quiet rooms, exam rooms, and jail cells to control and restrain out of control individuals both standing and on the ground.  Techniques were designed to teach staff members to work together effectively, while at the same time putting them a position of control, using the minimal amount of force while patient is medicated or moved.   PRT relies on the structural alignment of the human body and does not put pressure on the spine, back, or chest.  It offers a safe and reliable way to restrain subjects who may be pregnant, suffer from spine injures, or other medical issues. It also does not rely on pain compliance and cannot be used in a punitive manor.  If your job requires you to restrain people in medical or other custodial situations, then PRT is for you.

Course certification includes expert witness testimony in any departmental, criminal, or civil proceeding.  Defendant is only responsible for expenses.  We also offer a Train the Trainer Program for Passive Restraint Tactics.

PRT is recommended for anyone who may be called upon to restrain a person during custodial care such as-
Clinic staff
Hospital staff
School staff
Child daycare workers
Social workers
Police
Corrections
